Your West Knoxville Move: 4 Tips for an Easier Move

Moving boxes in kitchen. So, you’ve finally found your West Knoxville home. Now, comes the fun part: the move. The packing, the cleaning, setting up utilities…the whole process can be tireless work. Here are a few tips to make the whole process easier.

  1. Buying or selling your West Knoxville home? Start planning early. Book your movers early. Take care of transferring or setting up your utilities. Most importantly make sure you give yourself enough time. It can take longer than anticipated and you want to ensure you have enough time to move from one location to the next.
  2. Start packing early and stock up on supplies. At first, packing up all of your belongings can seem extremely overwhelming. There is only so much time and you need to balance packing the items your need versus packing the ones that you don’t. First, make sure you have enough boxes and packing material on hand.  There is nothing worse than the night before the move and you run out of boxes.  Boxes can be purchased through many Knoxville moving companies. If you want to avoid paying for some of your boxes, consider asking for boxes from grocery stores or retail stores.  Don’t forget to invest in packing paper for fragile items, like dishes. Newspaper also makes a great substitute. Pack a few boxes everyday. Start with the items you will not be using before your move and slowly move to the essential items as you get closer to your move. The night before your move pack a box of essentials that you know you will absolutely need, that way you are not struggling to find it in a house full of boxes.
  3. Be aware of the layout of your new West Knoxville home. You will want to make sure you are familiar with the measurements of each room. This way you are sure that the items that you are bringing with your are able to properly fit in your new home. You will also want to make sure that big items, like couches, will be able to fit through doorways. There is nothing worse than having a couch to big to fit through the front door or a refrigerator that sticks out awkwardly in the kitchen.
  4. Don’t forget to forward your mail. With all of the planning that comes with buying or selling your West Knoxville home, you can easily forget to do the little things, like forwarding your mail. It can easily be done on the USPS Website. Know the dates of your move and plan accordingly. Know the last day you will be checking at your old place and the first day you will  be checking it at your old place. This way, you won’t miss any important bills or mail.
