One of the great things about living in Knoxville is that you get the change of seasons without the horribly long winter. Warm weather in Knoxville tends to last well into the fall and the weather tends to break decently early in the spring. Fall in Knoxville is a wonderful time. The leaves start changing and the weather is still warm. If you’re one of the many Knoxville residents that love Knoxville in the fall, here are few things to enjoy during this fall season.
Knoxville Brewers’ Jam 2012
The Knoxville Brewers’ Jam 2012 takes place once October 6 in the World’s Fair Park. The Brewers’ Jam celebrates handcrafted American beers, good food and good music. The event begins at 1 p.m. and ends at 7 p.m. At the event, there will be many local restaurants and vendors and live music from Guy Marshall and Hudson K, among others. There will also be many local and national breweries including: Smoky Mountain Brewer, Blackstone Brewing Company, Blue Moon Brewing Company, SweetWater Brewing Company, Shock Top among many others.
Knoxville Race for the Cure 2012
The Knoxville Race for the Cure is on October 27. It is the 16th Annual Race for the Cure helping raise money for the fight against breast cancer. The 5K begins at 8:30 a.m. and the 1 Mile Family Fun Walk begins at 9 a.m. You are able to register for the Race for the Cure online or in person Tuesday-Friday at West Town Mall. This year’s race for the cure hopes to raise $350,000.00 towards to the fight against breast cancer.
Attend a UT Football Game.
There is not better time to go cheer on the Tennessee Volunteers than in the fall. The weather is cooler for tailgating and enjoying the game at UT’s Neyland Stadium. Big games to look forward to this year include the Alabama game on 10/20 and the Troy Trojans on 11/03.
Enjoy the Beautiful Fall Foliage in the Great Smokey Mountains.
If you love to see the leaves change, there is no place better to do it than in the Great Smokey Mountains. While the peak of fall colors changes depending on the weather, generally the leaves are at their peak mid-October through the beginning of November. Enjoy the change of colors by going for a hike on one of the many trails, going camping, or taking a drive through the Cades Cove Loop.
