‘Tis the season in Knoxville. Thanksgiving has come and gone and the cool winter weather has just begun to set in. It is the time of year for epic holiday shopping adventures, holiday parties, gatherings with family and friends, and enjoying the holiday cheer. The greater Knoxville area has many holiday events for residents to enjoy, here are few that you won’t want to miss this 2012 holiday season.
Knoxville’s Holiday on Ice
Come take advantage of Market Square’s full sized ice rink in the heart of downtown. The rink is open from now until January 6, 2013. Admission is $10 for adults and $7 for kids. Admission includes skate rental and unlimited time on the ice.
Christmas At Chilhowee Park
Come enjoy the Christmas lights at Chilhowee Park. Admission to the event is free and the event is open nightly from now until January 1. Each night there is also live music, refreshments, and activities for kids.
Pigeon Forge’s Winterfest
This year is Pigeon Forge’s 23rd annual Winterfest, which begin in November and runs through February. Winterfest celebrates the winter season in Pigeon Forge through a wide array of events. But the best way to take advantage of Winterfest during the holiday season is to enjoy their spectacular light displays on a trolley tours. Tours run Monday through Friday, and begin at 6 p.m. Admission for the tour is $5 per person.
2012 Jingle Bell Run / Walk
The 2012 Jingle Bell Run / Walk gives residents a great opportunity to get into the holiday spirit and support a good cause. The run is represented locally by the Knoxville Orthopedic Clinic, and supports the National Arthritis Foundation. The event takes place on December 8th in Market Square and begins at 10 a.m. Cost for the event ranges anywhere from $30 to $15, depending on age and the event.
First Night Knoxville 2013
There is no better place to celebrate the new year in Knoxville than in Market Square. Watch the ball drop at midnight and enjoy live music, entertainment, and great food at one of the many venues in Market Square. Admission is $15 prior to the event and $20 the day of the event.
