1. Admiral Farragut Park

Admiral Farragut Park is a picturesque place to enjoy the outdoors in Tennessee. This 23-acre park is situated on the banks of the Tennessee River and provides outdoor fun for paddlers, anglers, and hikers. Add this park to your list to enjoy breathtaking views of the Tennessee River and its forests. 

Hikers will traverse a nearly half-mile trail that leads to Carl Cowan Park. Along the way, you’ll pass through multiple rock formations with scenic views of the river. Kids and pets can frolic in the shoreline surf, and paddlers can launch from any of the three boat launches in the park.

2. Campbell Station Park Loop Trail

Campbell Station Park Loop Trail is a one-mile, dog-friendly trail in West Knoxville. This paved hiking trail has a moderate incline but gets very little traffic, so you won’t have to worry about dealing with crowds or other dogs. The forest canopy also provides lovely shade over most hiking routes, but you’ll also find open areas.

Dogs are allowed on this trail, but they must remain on leash at all times. As always, when hiking with dogs, make sure they are well hydrated before hitting the trail.

3. Carl Cowan Park 

The Tennessee River runs along three sides of Carl Cowan Park, providing opportunities for paddling and fishing. A woodsy little trail winds along the Tennessee River’s bank between Carl Cowan Park and Admiral Farragut Park, making for a pleasant trek. From the route, you can witness a variety of songbirds and other wildlife. 

4. The Cove at Concord Park

One of the famous hiking trails in West Knoxville is The Cove at Concord Park. It’s a great trail for all levels of hikers. Be sure to bring your camera along because the views here are truly breathtaking. The park is dog friendly so bring your pup, and this trail is open year-round.

5. Melton Hill Park 

Melton Hill Park, bordered by the Clinch River, has water access with two boat ramps, a fishing pier, and a sandy beach and swim area. The paved greenway offers walking, running, biking, and natural surface trails that wind through the woods and meadows.
