When buying your West Knoxville or Farragut home, you spend countless hours researching, viewing, and weighing the pros and cons of each Farragut or West Knoxville home you’ve looked at. Is the price of the home right? Does it have all of the amenities you are looking for? Does it truly feel like home? Still, one thing that can be easily forgotten when you choose your West Knoxville or Farragut home, is what the resale value of the home will be.
Still, resale value of the home you choose can be a big factor down the line. One keen word of advice that can be offered when considering resale value is: don’t buy the biggest [or best] house on the block.
Like no man is an island, no home is an island. While the home you choose could be in perfect condition and have lots of upgrades, if it is the biggest and best on the block, those qualities could play against it. A homes value is influenced by the homes around it. A big home surrounded by lots of smaller houses won’t sell as well as a smaller home surrounded by lots of bigger houses.
If you’re looking a a home that appears to be the biggest [or best] on the block, be sure to ask your realtor to look at a few comparable homes. If the prices of those comparable homes is significantly less, that home you are considering could have difficultly getting the resale value you are wanting.
